The Need for the Incarnation December 3, 2006.
The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ has become a turning point in the history of mankind; making it feasible to classify incidents into pre and post Nativity. It has also marked the birth of humanity; for in the Nativity was the Incarnation, and in the Incarnation was Salvation and through Salvation we received adoption becoming heirs to the Kingdom. The Renaissance of Coptic Orthodox Church after long years of darkness [A visionary Role Model for Renaissance of the Eritrean Orthodox Church]. October 22, 2006 A MAN OF VISION
Many have written about Pope Kirollos IV - father of the reform, as he was rightly titled. He was the patriarch who
shone in the darkness that
surrounded the church. Many
more have written about Pope
Kirollos VI, the man of prayer and
miracles. He was the patriarch
who many of us have seen and
were touched by, and whose
dedicated disciples have recorded
hundreds of miracles that happened
due to his prayers and
supplications. Between the two
was one Kirollos whom Coptic historians have largely ignored.
He was the saintly Kirollos V, the 112th Patriarch of the See of
St. Mark. More...
Sarah the First Matriarch: A Strong Personality Accepted before God, Nurtured in a Marriage of Mutual Love |
 |
Introduction October 22, 2006
The Holy Bible has quite a number of female figures who have contributed to the making of human history, and played a role in the plan of God's salvation for mankind. However, none of them was up to the title of "matriarch". Like her husband, the patriarch of patriarchs, Sara, though no explicit mention of her name, was the first woman in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ (Mathew 1:1). Sara, a woman of good looks and character manifest in her faith, faithfulness, determinedness, problem solving, reliance on God and many other attributes, is the subject of this article More... |
Removal of Social Evils by Education October 15, 2006
Clearly, it is not by harshness or by severity, or by overbearing methods, that social evils are removed. It is by education rather than by formal commands, by persuasion rather than by threats.
This is the way to deal with people in general. Severity, however, should be employed only against the sins of the few. (From the Writings of Saint Augustine).
The Concept of Repentance (Doctrinal Teachings and Church canons ) October 8, 2006
The importance of repentance is undisputed by all but repentance in the Orthodox Church is totally different from repentance in other Churches with respect to its definition, efficacy, practice and necessity for salvation. More...
Christ In Sunshine October 8, 2006
We are in danger of using our religion only in our dark hours, when we are in some trouble. But we need Christ just as much in our bright, prosperous, exalted hours as in the days of darkness, adversity, and depression. His religion is just as much for our hours of joy as for our days of grief. More...
